Consultation description
Closed consultation that sought views on proposed changes to the Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO) and extending the scope of the primary authority (PA) scheme. Focuses on front line regulation, aiming to bring more consistent and targeted enforcement, while reducing burdens for businesses and regulators. Following the government’s wider review of public bodies, it proposed to change the status of the LBRO so that it ceases to be a non-departmental public body and instead becomes a constituent part of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Outcome: The Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO)
Following the consultation the government is now moving ahead with the proposal to transfer the functions of LBRO to BIS, to be delivered by a dedicated unit: The BRDO.
Feedback on LBRO, and on the PA scheme, shows that stakeholders value the organisation’s work.
