Biography

Howard Orme has been Director General, Finance and Commercial since July 2009. Prior to this he worked for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), managing the Group Finance Directorate and was also responsible for Finance Policy & Practices.

At DWP Howard oversaw the development and implementation of several large programmes including one of the largest and most complex integrated payment and accounting solutions in the world.

Prior to joining DWP in 2006, Howard held a number of senior strategy, planning and analysis leadership roles at Allied Domecq and Unilever, including Group Financial Controller, Senior Vice President, Global Strategy, and Chief Financial Officer for a major overseas business.

Howard is a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant and participates in CIMA’s Finance Transformation Network Forum focussing on leading practices in business partnering, decision support and shared services.
