Insolvency statistics

The Insolvency Service is an Executive Agency of BIS, which has around 2,100 staff operating from 35 locations across Great Britain and with the remit of providing a world-class insolvency law and regulatory framework and delivering key public services to support that framework, including an effective investigation and enforcement regime.

The Statistical Team compiles, publishes and advises on the Official Statistics on Insolvency including the quarterly National Statistics release, as well as contributing to the development and evaluation of policy and providing statistical advice and support across the wider Insolvency Service’ business areas. The published Official Statistics and accompanying information can be found on the Insolvency Service statistics web pages.

Regional insolvency statistics

The Insolvency Service will publish the next release of Regional Individual Insolvency Statistics on Wednesday 16th May 2012 at 9:30am.

These annual Official Statistics will present tables and maps for 2010 and 2011 down to the level of local authority, updating the information available here for 2000-2009. The statistics will cover bankruptcies, individual voluntary arrangements and debt relief orders separately, and an additional breakdown by gender and age group will be included at the government office region level.
