European Crop Protection Association
On the 26th November 2009 Professor Beddington spoke at the European Crop Protection Association Food Supply Forum in Brussels about food security and the challenge it poses for Europe in the 21st century. He discussed:
- The global challenge of food security and the connected issues of increasing population, demand for energy and water and climate change;
- Some potential food security solutions, including biotechnology, and the importance of crop protection;
- The provision of scientific advice for European policy, using the example of new pesticide legislation that is not evidence-based.
