- build effective relationships with key companies and intermediaries
- develop high quality analysis and understanding of these sectors
- develop and take forward with the industry agreed strategies on raising commercial and environmental performance through manufacturing best practices, access to a world-class science base, and enhancing the skills of its employees
- champion the industry's legitimate interests in Government and elsewhere, to ensure that regulatory and fiscal policy offers an optimum balance between environment, health, safety and competitiveness promoting opportunities for investment
- help the industry compete in a global environment and ensure there is fair competition with foreign companies.
