New Approach to Consumer Credit


It is important to have in place a personal finance market which meets the diverse needs of UK consumers and offers them the right level of protection against unfair business practices. To achieve this, it is necessary that: 

  • Access to credit lines for the most vulnerable in society maintained
  • Fewer people take on unsustainable levels of debt
  • Help is available for people to keep their finances at manageable levels
  • Businesses are profitable and treat their customers fairly

A package of measures has been implemented including a review of the Credit and Store Card market to achieve a new approach to consumer credit.
