Getting in touch with the Government
Individual contacts for different aspects of government activity are set out in the relevant sections of the toolbox. However, contact with government departments can also be made through the routes set out below.
Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)
BIS has six small teams distributed across the country. These teams will provide a point of contact for LEPs in their area. Your BIS Local team will work closely with you to help you benefit from BIS economic development policies and work together with BIS on shared priorities.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI)
Trade
UKTI has nine small teams across England responsible for the delivery of international trade development services to England-based businesses. These teams, led by an International Trade Director (ITD) will provide a first point of contact in UKTI for LEPs in their area. Their contact details can be found here.
Foreign investment
Specifically for Foreign Direct Investment, UKTI has a new Investment Services Team based in a number of offices around the country, as well as in a London-based hub. Details of the locations and contact details of these will be available soon and will be added to this site. In the meantime, LEPs can contact Colm Reilly, Head of the new Investment Services Team for England (colm.reilly@ukti-invest.com, 07554 334 428).
Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG)
DCLG has Relationship Managers for each of the LEPs, who can help to connect LEPs with the relevant leads on DCLG and other policies. The breakdown of which LEPs are covered by whom is available in DCLG contacts for LEPs (DOC, 53 Kb) , but the broad areas and contact details are as below:

Big Society Local Intelligence Team
The Local Intelligence Team will share intelligence and innovation on building the Big Society. The Team will be able to provide local partners with information about local and national policy and programmes relating to the Big Society. It will feed intelligence on local innovation and local successes and problems into the development of local and national policy.
The Team will focus on areas including:
- Opening up public sector markets,
- The development of mutuals and joint ventures
- The right to provide.
