Common Commencement Dates

The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in December 2004 that Government would extend common commencement dates (CCDs) for all legislation bearing on business.

For areas covered by the CCD initiative, and subject to some exceptions, legislation bearing on business will be commenced only on either 6 April or 1 October each year.

The purpose of CCDs is to help business plan for new legislation and to increase awareness of the introduction of new or changed requirements.
