About this guide
The Professional Recruitment Guide is designed to help you, the employer of professional people, get the best person for the job, by taking a fresh look at how your recruit new entrants at graduate level
The guide allows you to:
- view a range of practices used at each stage of the recruitment process
- understand practices that may disadvantage candidates who are not ‘typical’ for the profession
- apply practices to your recruitment processes that meet your specific needs
- read case studies from employers in various sectors and of different sizes
You can also find out about the latest trends and read about the theory and background of fairer recruitment. There are links to key legislation and signposts to further resources.
The Professional Recruitment Guide was developed by the Professional Associations Research Network (PARN).
Tailoring recruitment to fit your business
The guide does not prescribe a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead, it suggests issues that you need to consider, and offers different ways to proceed. The recruitment practices you use will be dependant on factors such as:
- the existing routes into the profession
- the size of your organisation
- the sector you work in
- your geographical location and many others
