Flexible working describes any working pattern adapted to suit employer and employee needs. It is generally negotiable
Common types of flexible working are:
- Part-time employees
- Flexi-time: employees choose when to work around a core time period
- Annualised hours: employees' hours are worked out over a year
- Compressed hours: employees work agreed hours over fewer days
- Staggered hours: different starting, break and finishing times for employees in the same workplace
- Job sharing: a job designed for one person is performed by two or more employees
