Outreach to universities

Most large and some small to medium-size organisations take students on work placements. Career fairs are also an excellent opportunity for employers to meet potential candidates face-to-face

Work placements

Single option Most large and some small to medium-size organisations take students on work placements. The length of the placement can vary from two to three weeks, to a vacation period, or up to a year. Students gain relevant professional experience and knowledge of a particular industry sector, as well as potential references. Organisations find that these schemes are a good means of assessing potential candidates for employment after graduation. Work placements are an extremely effective way for organisations to change stereotypical images of their sector.

Fairs

Single option Career fairs are also an excellent opportunity for employers to meet potential candidates face–to–face and many organisations find exhibiting at graduate careers fairs allows them to project a positive image of their organisation and dispel stereotypical images of their sector.
