The milkround

'The milkround' is the process of recruiting graduates for graduate recruitment schemes, through recruitment fairs at universities

Advantages

  • provides access to large numbers of graduates.
  • offers an opportunity to promote an organisation, sector or profession

Disadvantages

  • can be costly and time consuming
  • most suitable for larger organisations
  • limited to a small proportion of universities as too costly to cover them all

Cost

Can be quite costly depending on how many universities you attend. Also tends to involve a lot of time and effort for a fairly short duration.

Length of the process

Usually lasts from September to December.

Potential for discrimination

This method can discriminate against candidates from other universities, graduates already working and older or non-recent graduates.

Conclusions

The milkround can be an effective way of recruiting graduates, but can be expensive in time and costs.
