Joint International Unit
The JIU plays a key role in taking forward the international agenda of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills
The JIU provides support, advice and guidance to Ministers and policy makers on the international dimension in education. It ensures effective representation in cross-Whitehall departmental groups, the EU and other international fora so that the UK's education policies and programmes are promoted and explained. The JIU also takes the lead in developing and promoting collaboration in education with our priority countries.
Prime Minister's Initiative (PMI)
The second phase of the PMI was launched on 18 April 2006. PMI2 is a 5 year, £35m strategy which aims to secure the UK’s position as a leader in international education and sustain the managed growth of UK international education delivered both in the UK and overseas.
