National Student Forum

In February 2008, the former Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills launched the National Student Forum to help amplify the student voice with Government, the HE sector and HE institutions.
The National Student Forum worked in partnership with student representatives and HE sector groups to provide: an ideal vision of what it would be like for students if everything was working well; suggestions as to how individual universities and colleges can support students and recommendations for government and national HE sector organisations

"The National Student Forum's membership comprises a diverse range of higher education students who volunteer their time: undergraduates and postgraduates, full-time and part-time; younger and more mature; disabled and non-disabled; home and international students. We don't profess to be experts in the sector in all its complexity, but we are experts in what it is like to experience higher education and in understanding how different aspects of HE might look from a student perspective if things are working well."
Maeve Sherlock, Chair, National Student Forum.

NB the National Student Forum was discontinued at the end of the 2009/10 academic year. Its third and final report was published on 21st October 2010 (PDF, 8.0 Mb)  and is available here as a resource for Higher Education Institutions to use, in conjunction with their student representatives, to help improve the student experience.
