Healthcare and Life Sciences Growth Review seeks stakeholder input
On 29th November, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills published "The path to strong, sustainable and balanced growth"
The Growth Review invites business to take part in a fundamental assessment of what every government department is doing to address the barriers facing industry. It represents a step change in government’s relationship with business.
Initial areas that will be examined and reported on at Budget 2011 are:
- Structural reforms with the potential to improve the business environment such as planning, trade and inward investment, regulation, access to finance, corporate governance, and competition.
- Barriers to growth that affect specific sectors such as Advanced manufacturing, Retail, Construction, Digital and creative industries, Healthcare and life sciences, and Business and professional services
Action plans for each project will be developed by Budget 2011, presenting proposed policy solutions to the issues identified during the review. Budget 2011 will set out the next phase of the process, with the Growth Review forming the basis of the Government’s agenda over the lifetime of the parliament.
Life Sciences
We are inviting business to complete a questionnaire (PDF, 47 Kb) to inform the work of the life sciences element of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Project. You are invited to submit responses, accompanied wherever possible by evidence, to the questionnaire by 14 January 2011. We anticipate that representative bodies will want to submit co-ordinated responses for their sector. Individual responses will also be welcomed.
Responses should be sent to: healthcareandlifesciencesgrowthreview@dh.gsi.gov.uk
