The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair - ExCel London 10-12 March 2011
The 2011 Big Bang Fair is an important event in the science communications calendar. In 2010 22,000 visitors attended and it looks as though that figure will be exceeded this year.
The Fair will offer a wide range of entertaining educational activities including:
- Leading UK-based companies showcasing their science, engineering and technology capabilities
- Lectures and presentations from inspirational speakers on science and engineering
- Interactive and inspirational demonstrations bringing science alive to large audiences in a studio setting brought by TV’s Bang Goes The Theory, and Brainiac Live
- Exhibition stands of entrants to National Science and Engineering Competition
The event also hosts the finals of the BIS-funded National Science & Engineering Competition open to all 11-19 year olds with projects from all areas of science, technology, engineering and maths.
Led by Engineering UK, the event is supported by BIS, the Department for Education, the Lloyds Register Educational Trust and the Wellcome Trust. The lead sponsors are BAE Systems, Shell and Siemens, with IBM and Rolls-Royce plc as major sponsors.
